Matchday management

Matchday management

There will always be competition at the heart of sports—on the pitch, court, track, or court. To ensure every fan can derive satisfaction and enjoy an unforgettable experience, teams of professionals work tirelessly to deliver countless elements of the spectacle. Participants of the 4th edition of the Legia Sport Business Programme (LSBP) learned about their daily routines on November 23 at the Legia Training Center.

The theme of this session concluded with a small paraphrase, hinted at what we wanted to focus on: “Matchday Management – Winter Never Comes.”

To start, Agata Jurek explained how organizations like UEFA strive to standardize and optimize the experience in premium hospitality zones during the most important matches across the continent.

Experienced F&B expert Rafał Głowacki focused on delivering catering to fans that must simultaneously be of the highest quality, provide exceptional experiences, and… be served quickly. To put the scale of the effort into perspective: usually, up to 30% of fans at Łazienkowska head to food kiosks during the halftime break. This means serving nearly 10,000 people at the highest level within just 15 minutes!

Kazimierz Kwasek, a professional in the ticketing sector for over 10 years, shared insights on how to provide fans with the best possible experience when purchasing and using tickets for events. His resume includes work during the EURO 2024 finals.

Kris Szumowski, who has been working at FIFA for over four years as a Competition Manager, revealed the behind-the-scenes work of those responsible for ensuring the comfortable and safe participation of players in competitions. Meanwhile, Tomasz Świerczewski focused on Venue Management. Drawing from his experience organizing events for UEFA and FIFA, he shared numerous practical tips with participants.
