It all starts with football

We love football, but the world doesn’t end with it. Sometimes, it actually starts here! During the fifth session of the current edition of the Legia Sport Business Programme, we discussed multi-section clubs, where various sports disciplines successfully coexist alongside football.

People are the greatest asset!

We started with a key topic – managing human potential. Marcin Sobczyk, People & Culture Manager at Legia Warsaw, talked about strategies for employee development and listening to their needs. It is worth noting that, according to a Deloitte report, as many as 79% of sports leaders believe that investing in workforce development is the key to success.

Raoul Tondini, Head of HR at the European Club Association, provided insight into the practices of Europe’s biggest clubs and the ECA itself – an organization whose membership has grown by 25% in the last five years.

Multi-section structure as the key to development!

Experts from different sports disciplines shared their insights on how to grow other sections:

Legia Ladies: Radosław Niwiński (CEO) and Amanda Pietrzak (COO, player, and leader on the field) presented their strategy for building women’s football. It is worth noting that women’s football is growing in popularity – the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023 reached a record-breaking 2 billion viewers.

Legia Warsaw Basketball Section: Łukasz Sekuła (Vice President) discussed how the club has returned to the European stage. Legia Warsaw advanced to the FIBA Europe Cup playoffs, proving that history and passion lead to success.

Legia Soccer Schools: Adam Orlikowski (President) highlighted the global reach of LSS. The numbers speak for themselves: over 10,000 children in Poland are already part of the program, and training camps have been held in Australia and the USA.
